Melissa Joynt obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from York University and received her Chartered Accountant designation in 2008.

She has worked in the accounting field for over 15 years and her concentration has been in determining, verifying and analyzing factual matters by the examination of accounting, operating and financial records; and the interpretation and communication of these financial facts along with calculations and recommendations, primarily in connection with economic damage quantification in insurance and litigation matters.

Melissa has provided expert testimony on loss of income matters before the Superior Court of Ontario.

Melissa has been engaged in various types of assignments including income benefit replacement for employed and self-employed individuals, determination of principal dependency, calculation of past and future income losses, pension losses and business interruption losses.

Melissa started her career as an insurance adjuster before becoming an accountant and has personally been involved with over 2,500 accident benefit files.

These have included taxi drivers, truck drivers, home daycare providers, contractors, corporation owners, restaurant owners, drywall installers, movers, entertainers, coffee shop owners, importers and exporters, couriers, gardeners, doctors, massage therapists, dancers, accountants, sales people, cleaners, translators, real estate agents, nurses and teachers.

Melissa has conducted and participated in numerous seminars and workshops in addition to writing articles for several insurance industry publications.
