January 2009It’s Always Fresh at the Blind Dog Grill Boasting menu items like the "Dreamloaf" and "Penn-jito" (Chef Penny’s special version of the classic mojito), Blind Dog is a cozy restaurant in Park City known both for its from-scratch menu and unusual name. Partially drawing on co-owner’s Derek’s roots as a professional fisherman and Penny’s penchant for all foods fresh and homemade, the restaurant began in 1998 with a simple mission: serve fresh fish flown in from – literally - everywhere and hand-cut prime meats that couldn’t be beat. The restaurant was named for Penny and Derek’s black lab Rigger, who was left blind from a car accident when he was a year old. While the fame has gone to Rigger’s head, the couple has continued to expand their restaurant to include an amazing sushi menu and a bar as warm and original as the rest of the restaurant. For more information about their restaurant menu, custom catering services or to make reservations, you can visit them at http://www.blinddoggrill.com/ Blind Dog Grill Bill and Gail Engvall live in Southern California and are close personal friends of Dixon and Patti Grier… and Gail is apparently Bill’s muse. As you may have already guessed, Bill is the star of the The Bill Engvall Show, which currently airs on TBS. To watch full episodes online, please go to http://www.tbs.com/shows/billengvall/.. His first and one of his funniest CDs was called Here’s Your (Stupid) Sign. Other top picks from Bill and Gail include:
Editor’s Note Some at MD&D - we won’t say who, but you can probably guess - attribute Bill’s meteoric rise to stardom as the result of a live gig he did 20 years ago while standing on a wooden platform on the Damico’s driveway during the firm’s annual Tan Jacket Classic & Barbecue. The show was so popular that Bill hosted an encore performance several years later for the 300-plus people that crowded into Atlanta National Golf Club. Several clients were treated and subsequently released at local hospitals after suffering from side-splitting pangs of laughter. Do you have a favorite restaurant? If so, please, please, please share their restaurant recommendations with us. |
