MD&D ANNOUNCES NEW MANAGING PARTNER IN 2009
January 1, 2009 marks the end of one era and the beginning of a new one at Matson, Driscoll & Damico as Jack Damico transitions his role as Managing Partner and Chairman of the Executive Committee to Bill Bradshaw, MD&D’s Chief Operating Officer and Managing Partner of the Midwest Region.
About Jack Damico
While he will soon be turning over the leadership reins to Bill, Jack has no plans to retire. After more than 40 years with the firm, MD&D will continue to play an important role in his personal and professional life.
Jack will remain as a Partner with MD&D to focus more exclusively on the firm’s future growth. At the partnership’s request, he will maintain his involvement in global marketing for the firm’s insurance and litigation practices, developing new practice areas and exploring expansion opportunities.
He will continue to be available to work on insurance claims, as an expert witness on litigation matters, and perhaps also as a mediator, umpire, appraiser and/or special litigation consultant on a wide range of insurance and commercial cases.
Jack began his career with Johnson, Atwater & Company, the predecessor firm to MD&D, when he was a freshman at Boston College. He got his first taste of litigation one year later when he offered fact witness testimony in a Canadian court, an experience that he readily admits scared him to death. He was hired on a full-time basis following his graduation from Boston College and after serving his country as a LTJG in the U.S. Navy during the Viet Nam War.
Since beginning his career almost 45 years ago, Jack has been involved in a number of high-profile insurance and litigation cases, including but not limited to: Three Mile Island; Food Lion v. ABC/Prime Time Live; the MGM Grand fire in Las Vegas; the Hyatt Regency collapse in Kansas City; the DuPont Plaza fire in Puerto Rico and both the Silverstein World Trade Center and Taunus Deutsche Bank cases that occurred as a result of the tragedy of September 11.
He has also been involved in several malicious product tampering cases, one of which involved Scotland Yard, as well as countless files related to hurricane, tornado, flood and earthquake insurance claims.
His litigation cases have included such matters as subrogation, fraud, arson, class actions, commercial disputes, predatory pricing, lost profits and wrongful death
About Bill Bradshaw
Bill began his career with Johnson, Atwater & Company in 1975 as an accounting intern while at Loyola University in Chicago. He worked with Norm Matson, also a founder of MD&D, for a number of years and became a partner in 1982.
During his time with the firm, Bill has worked on a variety of key assignments, including losses stemming from: a tornado at the General Motors assembly plant in Oklahoma City; Tropical Storm Allison at Baylor College of Medicine; Hurricanes Katrina and Wilma at Sears Holdings and Hurricane Katrina at the Ernst Morial New Orleans Convention Center.
Bill has also handled numerous litigation files involving lost profits, breach of contract and other business disputes. He has been admitted as an expert witness in Federal court and numerous state courts.
While his new role as Managing Partner will require a portion of his time, Bill will continue to be available to handle both insurance and litigation files on a regular basis.
